Soldiers of Society are back and ready to rock on their fiery new single, “Freedom Spirit” out everywhere on streaming platforms.

“Freedom Spirit” amplifies the pop punk sound that Soldiers brought to us on their debut in a much bolder way.

Taking an arguably more punk rock approach to things this time around, “Freedom Spirit” is much more aggressive musically and lyrically. Chugging guitars blare loud and proud, while Abhi takes full command of the vocals and at times borrows a few cues from Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, especially in the bridge. The muffled vocals where Abhi declares, “it’s time to break your chains and fly” are reminiscent of Billie Joe’s vocals on “Holiday”, which is a very good thing.

The track has a lot of infectious punk energy and metal spirit. Inspired by the anime Attack on Titan, this track boasts a more epic feel to it than previous releases from Soldiers of Society. It’s different than the songs Soldiers of Society previously released. The change in sound could be due to Abhi recruiting Soldiers’ drummer, Simon Bohly, as a co writer on the track. But despite a more metal sound, the track still manages to be punk at its core. Green Day ‘s influence on frontman Abhi Bairathi plays out loud and proud on this track, and that’s okay by me. With lyrics perfectly matched to the energy of the music, this is the track you will want to get up and “break your chains” and headbang to. Five out of five fists held high for this punk rock banger. *
